BULLETIN BOARD

Just finished teaching my two minis and getting geared up for core teaching (Gov't & Legal Environment of Business), which is always a challenge.

Spectrum debate continues apace; I'll be going to Japan in January to discuss/debate property rights vs. commons with Glocom and DoCoMo (where I'll be meeting with the Big Boss). I'll also do a shindig at Stanford Law with Larry Lessig in March. Lots of action!

Christmas this year has played out over several weeks, including parties, a dinner dance, and dinner with friends. The two of us had a lovely Christmas eve in Philadelphia, then a short visit with Bob, Vera and Jack in Princeton, followed by a sumptuous dinner at Lacroix at the Rittenhouse on Christmas day. We expect our kids to arrive tomorrow for the weekend of gift-giving and general festivities. I rather like this way of doing it.

Long time, no write. We had a wonderful summer at the beach, especially with our new Zodiac. A powerboat (even a little one like the Z) is a whole new trip and offers new possibilities, which we explored this summer.

I am in the middle of a national debate on Spectrum Management, kicked off by my paper with Dave Farber proposing a modified property rights regime cum commons. The FCC seems to be moving as well, in a direction somewhat close to our recommendations.

More articles published! This has been a very productive year for me. Check out the Research page.

Back to teaching my two minis.

Our second Christmas in the Provence House; our kids and grandkid just pulled out the driveway on their way back home. This is a wonderful place ro be a family together.

Back to the academic grindstone; just finished teaching 3 mini-courses on tech stuff in Q2, with exams still to grade. I am about to launch into core teaching, in which I do 3 minis in Q3; always a challenge.

I have written three articles since leaving the FCC, on Broadband, the AOL-Time Warner merger, and my assessment of the likelilhood of success of mandated resale in telecoms (based on historical evidence). I also have some stuff written for a law review article, if only I can get my lawyer colleague off dead center (his name to be published here if he doesn't get to work!). Turns out this Chief Economist turn was very productive for me as a scholar. All three pieces are now in process at journals. Check 'em out on my Research page.
